NEW PALTZ, N.Y. — Visiting Vassar held off a late SUNY New Paltz rally to post a 2-1 men’s soccer victory in a battle between Hudson Valley rivals.
Vassar’s Owen Fauth scored two goals to give the visitors a 2-0 halftime lead. In the 76th minute, Joseph DiPreta finally found the net on a penalty kick for the Hawks to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Although the Hawks had the better of it in the second half, they were unable to get the equalizer and saw their
record dip to 3-2-1. Vassar improved its mark to 3-2.
SUNY New Paltz will be back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Skidmore on its South Turf Field.
