ACCORD, N.Y. — Highland High School’s boys soccer team spoiled Rondout Valley’s Senior Night on Ved Patel’s goal in the 78th minute to post a 2-1
Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) win.
Cedric Petilos put the visiting Huskies (3-12-1 overall) on top 1-0 with a goal early in the first half. Marley Pileggi tied it at 1-1 for the host Ganders (2-7-1 MHAL, 3-10-1 overall) when he scored off a penalty kick just before halftime.
Rondout Valley dominated play most of the way, holding a 21-4 advantage in shots. Highland goalie Dylan Dutra turned aside 10 shots.
“We have been struggling to score all season, but today just takes it to another level,” Rondout Valley coach Maxwell Mead said. “We had so many great chances and hit our shots either directly at the keeper or over the top.”
Reid Wogan made one save for the Ganders.
