Undefeated Copley (14-0, 6-0) inched closer to a Suburban League American Conference title following a home rout of Tallmadge (4-7-1, 0-6)
Kate Young led Copley, the No. 1 ranked Division II team in the state, with two goals. Colleen Bauer, Ashley Kerekes, Gabby Niemczura and Emma Stransky, each scored once. Copley finished with a 16-1 edge in shots on goal.
Copley goalkeeper Kami Ayoup had her 13th shutout in 14 games. Tallmadge’s Ashley Coyle finished with 10 saves.
Copley is scheduled to host Highland (11-2-1, 6-0) on Oct. 12 with the SLAC title hanging in the balance.
Jackson 1, Archbishop Hoban 0
In a matchup of two state powers, the Polar Bears edged the Knights (11-3) at Dowed Field. Jackson’s Rebekah Yoder scored the lone goal in the second half, as the Polar Bears finished with a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
Manchester 5, Fairless 0
Lauren Gunsett and Gina Tipton scored two goals apiece and Katie Norris contributed one goal to lead the visiting Panthers (15-1, 11-0 PAC-7) to a win over the Falcons (8-4-2, 6-2-2).
Norris also had two assists and Jayden McKinney had an assist.
Manchester’s Madi Cox finished with seven saves.
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 5, Northwest 0
Hannah Koons scored two goals to guide the Royals to a victory.
CVCA’s Maya Najjar, Kiera Ritzman and Chloe Kroslak also netted goals. Marissa Kahlil and Sam Anderson both had an assist.
Ellet 10, Massillon 3
Rachel Wenzel totaled three goals and four assists and Sydney Tucker netted two goals to lead Ellet to a win.
Cuyahoga Falls 3, Barberton 2
Natalie Polidoro scored two goals and Ellie Brustoski netted a goal to propel the Black Tigers (6-7-2) to a win over the Magics (6-9-0).
Morgan Bowe assisted on Polidoro’s first goal and Maia Mendez assisted on Polidoro second goal, which put Falls up 3-2.
BOYS SOCCER
Wadsworth 1, North Royalton 0
Michael Watson scored a goal in the second half off of a pass from Lucas Van Eck to guide the host Grizzlies (12-2-1, 3-1-1 SLNC).
Wadsworth goalkeeper Rory Nolan had three saves en route to a shutout.
Revere 3, Kent Roosevelt 0
Sophomore AJ Catlett scored one goal and assisted on two other goals to lead Revere (12-1-1) to another victory.
Ryan Novak and Shay Makkar also netted a goal for Revere, the No. 1 ranked team in the Division II state coaches poll.
Revere goalkeeper Ryan Cunningham posted a shutout with two saves.
VOLLEYBALL
Archbishop Hoban 25-25-25, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 21-10-10
The host Knights improved to 15-4 with a Senior Night victory over the Royals.
Hoban celebrated its five seniors: Molly Kennedy, Madison Moegerle, Giana Mutersbaugh, Anna Rumler and Haleigh Schulda.
Kennedy had 12 service points, Rumler spiked down 11 kills and Mutersbaugh posted 10 digs. Hoban’s other key players were Mary Hottinger (two aces), Sophia Day (20 assists) and Kathleen Jones (three blocks).
