ACCORD, N.Y. — SUNY Ulster’s men’s soccer team rebounded from its first loss of the season to score a resounding 7-0 win over Dutchess Community College on Saturday at Rondout Valley High.

opened defense of its conference championship with a balanced attack that overwhelmed the visitors.
Kingston High graduate Modou Badjie led the scoring for the Senators with two goals and an assist.
Five other SUNY Ulster players had one goal each. They were Javi Rodriguez (Newburgh), who has been the team’s top offensive threat so far this year, along with Anthony Murcia (Newburgh), Jafet Mendez (Kingston), Simon Kiluba (Kingston) and Jeremiah Tart (Onteora).
Mark Treasure (Onteora) had two assists for the victors, while teammates Frank Rodriguez (Newburgh), Anthony Mendez (Kingston) and Murcia also had one assist apiece.
SUNY Ulster dominated play in every aspect of the match against Dutchess (0-1 Mid-Hudson Conference) with big advantages in shots (36-6), shots on goal (17-1) and corners (6-2).
Cody Baker (Kingston) and Eduardo Romero (Liberty) split time in the net for the Senators.
“Everyone contributed for a good overall team performance,” SUNY Ulster coach Jamal Lis-Simmons said. “We’re glad to start conference play with a win.”
