HUDSON — Coxsackie-Athens and Hudson battled through regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods before finishing with a 2-2 tie in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference boys soccer game at Hudson High School.
The game was controlled by the Riverhawks throughout, but Hudson was relentless on its defensive line, making it very difficult to score.
Geddy Williams gave C-A a 1-0 led when he scored off an assist from Joe Perino in the first half. Seconds later, Hudson evened the score when Dejuan Bailey connected on a long chip off the ensuing kickoff.
Early in the second half, the Bluehawks’ Tariq Thompson found the back of the net, scoring off a beautiful header assisted by Bailey to put Hudson in front, 2-1.
Coxsackie-Athens outshot Hudson, 14-5, and had six corner kicks to the Bluehawks’ one.
C-A keepers Sam Mozzillo and Caleb McIlroy teamed up to stop two shots. Hudson’s Arafh Ghani turned away eight shots.
The Bluehawks held onto the lead until C-A got the equalizer with 10 minutes left on a converted penalty kick by Williams.
Hudson vists Chatham on Friday at 4:15 p.m., while Coxsackie-Athens hosts Voorheesville on Friday at 7 p.m.
Chatham 2,
Germantown 0
CHATHAM — Chatham pulled out a 2-0 Patroon Conference boys soccer victory at Chatham on Wednesday afternoon despite a vigilant effort from the Germantown Clippers defense.
Germantown played hard defending its 18 and jamming the middle of the field and Chatham did themselves no favors by missing simple opportunities to open up the scoring. Finally, 20 minutes into the half, Miguel Cassarubias received a ball took some touches to create space, and ripped one into the net for Chatham, 1-0 score.
Not too long after, the Panthers Tim Jeralds won the ball in the middle of the field and played a great, floated ball wide into the path of Otto Maxwell, who calmly finished into the far net to make it 2-0.
The rest of the game would consist of Chatham attacking and Germantown defending in numbers and the score would hold, 2-0. Chatham took 24 shots and Germantown had 9. Germantown keeper Riley Jennings collected 14 saves and Chatham’s Jon Wisseman had 6.
Catskill 11,
Watervliet/Heatly 1
WATERVLIET — Catskill remained unbeaten in Patroon Conference boys soccer play with an 11-1 victory over Watervliet/Heatly on Wednesday.
Twelve players had a goal or an assist for Catskill (4-0 Patroon). Danny Forbes and Cameron Newkirk shared goalkeeping duties for the Cats.
Catskill plays at Cairo-Durham on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Greenville 2,
Cairo-Durham 0
GREENVILLE — Greenville bounced back from a narrow loss to Catskill on Monday with a 2-0 victory over Cairo-Durham in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference boys soccer action.
Greenville travels to Maple Hill on Friday at 4:15 p.m., while cairo-Durham plays at Germantown on Tuesday.
GIRLS SOCCER
PATROON
Chatham 7,
Germantown 0
GERMANTOWN — Addi Perry recorded a hat trick and added an assist to highlight Chatham’s 7-0 Patroon Conference girls soccer victory over Germantown on Wednesday.
Kamryn Hanson had two goals for the Panthers, who outshot the Clippers, 33-1. Karina Lezama and Emmy Velez each scored a goal, Marianna Chudy contributed two assists and Lezama and Maya Narofsky each had an assist.
Germantown entertains Watervliet/Heatly on Friday at 5 p.m. and Chatham hosts Taconic Hills on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
Greenville 8,
Cairo-Durham 1
EAST DURHAM — Ella Mulholland scored two goals and six other players had one each as Greenville defeated Cairo-Durham, 8-1, in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference girls soccer game.
Ella Grupe, Anna Motta, Courtney Taibi, Emersyn Grupe, Julia Slater and Caroline Kosich all had a goal for the Spartans.
Mackenzie Sherburne had Cairo-Durham’s only goal.
Cameryn Childs had four saves in goal for Greenville. Cairo-Drham keeper Addison Hall stopped 12 shots.
Greenville hosts Maple Hill and Cairo-Durham entertains Coxsackie-Athens on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
COLONIAL
Cobleskill 1,
Ichabod Crane 1
VALATIE — Ichabod Crane earned a 1-1 tie with Cobleskill-Richmondville in Wednesday’s Colonial Council girls soccer game.
Cobleskill-Richmondville was up 1-0 at halftime, before the Riders evened the score in the second half as Kiley Brown scored off an assist from Brianna Hollister.
Riders’ goalkeeper Ashley Ames collected five saves.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
COLONIAL
Ichabod Crane 3,
Schalmont 1
VALATIE — Ichabod Crane defeated Schalmont 3-1 by set scores of 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16 in Wednesday’s Colonial Council girls volleyball match.
Ichabod Crane was led by Emma Scheitinger who had 8 aces, 9 kills and 25 digs, Delaney More had 9 kills, 19 assists and 11 Digs, Bell Rivero had 5 aces and 14 digs, Ally Flint had 8 kills and 10 digs. Molly Clickman had 5 kills and Angie O’Leary had 11 assists.
For Schalmont, Alexa Knapik had 12 service points and 24 assists, Haley Rider had 10 kills, Keira Noga had 8 kills and 8 digs and Mikayla Townsed had 29 digs.
With the win, Ichabod Crane improves to 5-0, while Schalmont falls to 2-2 League and 3-2 Overall.
PATROON

COXSACKIE — Coxsackie-Athens posted its first win of the season on Tuesday, defeating Rensselaer, 3-0, in Patroon Conference girls volleyball action.
C-A posted winning scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-11.
Katie McManus had 11 aces and 7 kills for the Riverhawks. Desirea Iamunno had 5 points, Sophie Coleman had 6 kills, Abby O’Dell had 9 points, 3 aces and 9 assists, Kirsten Thurman had 5 points, 1 ace and 4 kills and Lorna Pigott had 9 points, 2 aces and 4 assists.
GOLF
PATROON
Greenville 7.5,
Hudson 4.5
Greenville won a tough Patroon Conference golf match over Hudson at Island Green golf course on Wednesday afternoon, 7.5-4.5.
Ryan Arp led the way for the Greenville Spartans with a 4 under 31. At one point in the round he had a stretch of four consecutive birdies. Devin O’Conner chipped in with a 46 and Eddie Ross put in a steady round shooting 45.
Hudson was led by Gannon Logue with a 44 and a 48 by Mason Briscoe.
Greenville is now 6-1 and will face Catskill at Catskill CC on Friday.
Taconic Hills 11,
Chatham 1
Chatham dropped an 11-1 decision to Taconic Hills on Wednesday in Patroon Conference golf action.
Anthony O’Dell shot a sectional qualifying score of 42 for the Panthers. Taconic hill’ Zach Rowe shot a sectional score of 39.

Coxsackie-Athens 0.5
Cairo-Durham rolled to an 11.5-0-5 victory over Coxsackie-Athens on Wednesday in Patroon Conference golf action at Blackhead golf course.
